Privacy Policy

LaunchCut is developed by Andrew Hoffart. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the LaunchCut macOS app, website, and cloud demo hosting services.

Overview

LaunchCut is a privacy-first macOS application for recording and sharing interactive app demos. We collect minimal data, use no third-party tracking or analytics services, and store most information locally on your device.

Information We Collect

Email Addresses (Website Only)

If you sign up for launch notifications on our website, we collect your email address. This is used solely to notify you when the app launches or provide important updates about LaunchCut. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Demo Content (Cloud Publishing)

When you publish a demo using LaunchCut's cloud publishing feature, your demo content (screenshots and interaction data) is uploaded to our servers at demo.launchcut.app and made publicly accessible via a shareable link. No personal information is required to publish demos, and published demos are not tied to your identity.

Local Data (macOS App)

The LaunchCut macOS app stores the following information locally on your device:

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly publish a demo to our cloud hosting service or export and share the HTML file yourself.

Subscription & Payment Information

LaunchCut offers an optional premium subscription managed entirely through Apple's App Store. All payment processing, billing information, and subscription management is handled by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or billing address.

We only receive confirmation from Apple's StoreKit framework when you have an active subscription, which allows us to enable premium features such as custom demo titles and ad-free exports.

System Permissions

To function properly, LaunchCut requests the following macOS system permissions:

These permissions are used exclusively for the app's core functionality of recording Simulator interactions. LaunchCut does not record audio, monitor activity outside of recording sessions, or capture any content beyond what you explicitly record.

How We Use Information

We use collected information only for the following purposes:

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Published Demos

When you publish a demo using LaunchCut's cloud hosting service, the demo becomes publicly accessible to anyone with the link. Published demos contain only the screenshots and interaction data you recorded—no personal information is included.

If you want a published demo removed from our servers, contact us at mail@launchcut.app with the demo URL, and we will delete it promptly.

Analytics & Tracking

LaunchCut uses only Apple's native App Store Connect analytics, which are automatically provided for all macOS apps distributed through the App Store. These analytics are aggregated and anonymized by Apple.

We do not use any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking scripts. We do not track individual user behavior, collect usage statistics, or monitor your activity within the app.

Data Storage & Security

Email signup information and published demo content are stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect this data, including encryption in transit and at rest.

Local app data (preferences and recordings) is stored in standard macOS locations (UserDefaults and local file system) and is protected by your device's built-in security features.

Third-Party Services

LaunchCut uses the following third-party services:

These providers are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

Data Retention & Deletion

Email addresses: You may unsubscribe from emails at any time using the unsubscribe link. If you request deletion of your email data, we will remove it from our systems within 30 days.

Published demos: Demos remain hosted on our servers indefinitely unless you request deletion. Contact mail@launchcut.app to have a demo removed.

Local app data: You can delete all locally stored recordings and preferences by uninstalling the app or manually deleting files from your macOS Library folder.

Children's Privacy

LaunchCut does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed for developers and requires technical knowledge of iOS development tools.

International Users

LaunchCut is available worldwide. If you use LaunchCut from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our hosting infrastructure is located.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated via email to subscribers or through the app itself.
